Jonah was certainly a Messenger. 139 When he fled unto the laden ship, 140 and sailed away in a laden ship, wherein people cast lots. Because he lost, he was thrown into the water. 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised; 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 and We caused a gourd tree to grow over him. 146 We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. – 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 Why do you not reflect? 155 Or have you received some clear authority? 156 Then bring your Book if you are truthful! 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 neither you nor what you worship 161 You cannot make anyone rebel against Him. 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 And verily we! we hallow. 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 "If only we had a tradition [to this effect] from our forebears, 168 We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones. 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned! 177 So turn (away) from them for a while, 178 And see thou: they themselves shall presently see. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182
