And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire. 27 [For,] would We treat those who have attained to faith and do righteous deeds in the same manner as [We shall treat] those who spread corruption on earth? Would We treat the God-conscious in the same manner as the wicked? 28 This is a blessed Book which We sent down to you [Muhammad], for people to ponder over its messages, and for those with understanding to take heed. 29 And We vouchsafed unto Da'ud Sulaiman. How excellent a bondman! verily he was oft-returning. 30 When they brought fleet-footed chargers in the evening to show him, 31 he would say: "Verily, I have come to love the love of all that is good because I bear my Sustainer in mind!" [repeating these words as the steeds raced away,] until they were hidden by the veil [of distance - whereupon he would command,] 32 He then ordered, “Bring them back to me”; and he began caressing their shins and necks. 33 Certainly We tried Solomon, and We cast upon his throne a mere body; then he repented. 34 He prayed, "Lord forgive me! Grant me such power as no one after me will have -- You are the Most Generous Provider." 35 So We subjected the wind to him, so that it ran softly by his command wherever he wished; 36 And the unruly, every builder and diver (made We subservient), 37 The rest of the devils were bound in chains. 38 This is Our gift, so bestow thou or withhold, without rendering an account. 39 And indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return. 40
