He was a penitent. 30 When in the evening were presented to him the standing steeds, 31 he said: “Lo! I have come to love this wealth on account of the remembrance of my Lord.” And when the horses disappeared, 32 [He said], "Return them to me," and set about striking [their] legs and necks. 33 And We indeed tested Sulaiman, and placed a dead body on his throne – he therefore inclined towards His Lord. 34 He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which, (it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of Bounties (without measure). 35 So We subjected to him the wind blowing by his command, gently, wherever he directed, 36 And the devils -- the builders and divers of all kinds, 37 and others that were bound with chains. 38 “This is Our bestowal. So give or withhold as you wish without account.” 39 In Our eyes he certainly has a high position and the best place to return. 40
