And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 Stamp the ground with thy foot, yonder is water to wash in, cool, and water to drink. 42 And We gave him his family and the like of them with them, as a mercy from Us, and as a reminder to those possessed of understanding. 43 And (it was said unto him): Take in thine hand a branch and smite therewith, and break not thine oath. Lo! We found him steadfast, how excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (to his Lord). 44 And remember Our slaves, Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaque (Isaac), and Ya'qub (Jacob), (all) owners of strength (in worshipping Us) and (also) of religious understanding. 45 We indeed gave them distinction with a genuine affair – the remembrance of the (everlasting) abode. 46 And they are with Us, verily, of the chosen and the best! 47 And commemorate Isma'il, Elisha, and Zul-Kifl: Each of them was of the Company of the Good. 48 This is a commemoration. Surely for those who take heed for themselves is an excellent place of return -- 49 Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for them, 50 in which they will recline, and call for abundant fruit and drink therein. 51 ۞ And with them will be virgins of refraining looks and of equal age. 52 'This is what you were promised for the Day of Reckoning; 53 Lo! this in truth is Our provision, which will never waste away. 54 All this [for the righteous]: but, verily, the most evil of all goals awaits those who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right: 55 Hell! Where they will burn, and worst (indeed) is that place to rest! 56 This - so let them taste it - is scalding water and [foul] purulence. 57 and other similar to it, joined together. 58 [And they will say to one another: "Do you see] this crowd of people who rushed headlong [into sin] with you? No welcome to them! Verily, they [too] shall have to endure the fire!" 59 [And] they [who had been seduced] will exclaim: "Nay, but it is you! No welcome to you! It is you who have prepared this for us: and how vile a state to abide in!" 60 They will say: 'Our Lord, give those who brought this upon us double the punishment of the Fire' 61 And they shall say: What is the matter with us that we do not see men whom we used to count among the vicious? 62 Is it that we mistakenly made fun of them; or have they disappeared from our sight?” 63 Surely that is true -- the disputing of the inhabitants of the Fire. 64
