۞ Have they never journeyed through the land and seen what was the end of those who have gone before them? They were stronger than themselves in might and left firmer traces in the earth, but Allah seized them for their sinning, and they had none to protect them from Allah. 21 This occurred because their Noble Messengers came to them with clear signs, thereupon they used to disbelieve, so Allah seized them; indeed Allah is All Powerful, Severe in Punishment. 22 And indeed We sent Moosa with Our signs and a clear proof. 23 To Pharaoh, Haman and Qarun. But they said: "He is only a deceiving sorcerer." 24 When he came to them with the truth from Us, they said, "Slay the sons of those who believe with him and spare only their daughters" -- the schemes of those who denied the truth were futile. 25 And Fir'awn said: let me alone, that I may slay Musa, and let him call upon his Lord. Verily I fear that he may change your religion or that he may cause to appear in the land corruption. 26 Moses said: "I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every insolent imposter who does not believe in the Day of Reckoning." 27
