And he who believed said, "O my people, follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct. 38 My people, the life of this world is ephemeral, whereas the Hereafter, that is the permanent abode. 39 [There,] anyone who has done a bad deed will be requited with no more than the like thereof, whereas anyone, be it man or woman, who has done righteous deeds and is a believer withal - all such will enter paradise, wherein they shall be blest with good beyond all reckoning! 40 ۞ "And O my people! How (strange) it is for me to call you to Salvation while ye call me to the Fire! 41 you call me to deny Allah and to associate with Him as His partners those regarding whom I have no knowledge (that they are Allah's partners in His Divinity), whereas I call you to the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving? 42 “So it is self evident that what you call me towards has no benefit being prayed to, either in this world or in the Hereafter, and that our return is towards Allah, and that the transgressors only are the people of the fire.” 43 You will remember what I say to you. I commit my affair to God; surely God sees His servants.' 44 Wherefore Allah protected him from ills which they plotted, and there surrounded the family of Fir'awn the evil of torment. 45 the fire [of the hereafter - that fire] which they had been made to contemplate [in vain,] morning and evening: for on the Day when the Last Hour dawns [God will say,] "Make Pharaoh's folk enter upon suffering most severe!" 46 During a dispute in the fire, the suppressed ones will say to those who had dominated them, "We were your followers. Can you now relieve us of our suffering in the fire?" 47 But those who had been arrogant will say, "We are all in this together. God has judged between His servants." 48 And those in the Fire say unto the guards of hell: Entreat your Lord that He relieve us of a day of the torment. 49 They said, “Is it not that your Noble Messengers used to come to you with clear signs?” They said, “Why not, surely yes!” They said, “Then you yourselves pray”; and the prayer of the disbelievers is nothing but astray. 50
