Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HA MIM. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah: 2 a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge, 3 Giving good news and admonition: yet most of them turn away, and so they hear not. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 who do not pay Zakah, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 "The ones who believe and perform good deeds shall have a reward which will never be withheld from them." 8
