Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HaMeem. 1 A revelation from Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 Giving glad tidings and heralding warning; so most of them turned away, therefore they cannot listen (to the truth). 4 and so they say, [as it were:] "Our hearts are veiled from whatever thou callest us to, [O Muhammad,] and in our ears is deafness, and between us and thee is a barrier. Do, then, [whatever thou wilt, whereas,] behold, we shall do [as we have always done]!" 5 Say, O [Muhammad], "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 For those who believe and do good works is an enduring wage' 8
