Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha Mim. 1 THE BESTOWAL from on high [of this revelation] issues from the Most Gracious, the Dispenser of Grace: 2 The verses of this Book have been fully expounded. It is a reading in the Arabic language for the people of knowledge. 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
