54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Ha'. Mim. 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 A Book the verses of which are explained in detail, the Qur’an in Arabic for people of intellect. 3 to be a herald of glad tidings as well as a warning. And yet, [whenever this divine writ is offered to men,] most of them turn away, so that they cannot hear [its message]; 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Say, "I am only a human being like yourselves. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So take the straight path to Him and ask His forgiveness." Woe to those who associate others with Him, 6 who do not pay Zakah, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
