Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HaMeem. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful, 2 A Book whereof the verses are detailed; an Arabic Qur'an, for a people who know. 3 to be a herald of glad tidings as well as a warning. And yet, [whenever this divine writ is offered to men,] most of them turn away, so that they cannot hear [its message]; 4 And they say, "Our hearts are within coverings from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a partition, so work; indeed, we are working." 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 Those who give not the Zakat and they are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 For those who believe and do good works is an enduring wage' 8
