And whatsoever of affliction befalleth you is owing to that which your hands have earned; and He pardoneth much. 30 You cannot challenge God on earth and you will have no one besides Him as your guardian or helper. 31 And of His signs are the ships that run on the sea like landmarks; 32 If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 And that those who argue concerning Our revelations may know they have no refuge. 35 Whatever you have been given is only a temporary provision of this life, but that which is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 And those who avoid the greater sins, and Al-Fawahish (illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and when they are angry, they forgive 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 And those who, when they are oppressed vindicate themselves. 39 The recompense for evil will be equivalent to the deed. He who pardons (the evil done to him) and reforms himself, will receive his reward from God. God certainly does not love the unjust. 40 And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame). 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
