Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your own deeds. But much of it He forgives. 30 And you cannot escape in the earth; and you have neither a friend nor any supporter against Allah. 31 And of His signs are the ships in the sea like landmarks. 32 If He will He calmeth the wind so that they keep still upon its surface - Lo! herein verily are signs for every steadfast grateful (heart). - 33 or He may cause them to founder because of people's misdeeds, He pardons many of them, 34 And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape. 35 So whatever you have been given is but a passing enjoyment for this worldly life, but that which is with Allah (Paradise) is better and more lasting for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and put their trust in their Lord (concerning all of their affairs). 36 And those who avoid the greater sins, and Al-Fawahish (illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and when they are angry, they forgive 37 And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish prayer and whose affair being matter of counsel among themselves, and who of that wherewith We have provided them expend. 38 who, when they are attacked, defend themselves. 39 The retribution of a harmful deed is the harm equal to it; so whoever forgives and makes amends, so his reward is upon Allah; indeed He does not befriend the unjust. 40 Those who defend themselves after they have been wronged cannot be held blameworthy, 41 The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous. 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
