And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He pardons most (of your faults). 30 you cannot escape Him anywhere on earth. You have no protector or helper other than God. 31 And of His portents are the ships, like banners on the sea; 32 and if He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its back. Surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful. 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 AND [remember that] whatever you are given [now] is but for the [passing] enjoyment of life in this world - whereas that which is with God is far better and more enduring. [It shall be given] to all who attain to faith and in their Sustainer place their trust; 36 who eschew grave sins and shameful deeds, and whenever they are angry, forgive; 37 who obey their Lord and establish Prayer; who conduct their affairs by consultation, and spend out of what We have bestowed upon them; 38 and those who, when suffering a great injustice, seek to defend themselves. 39 And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. 40 But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame. 41 The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right. Those will have a painful punishment. 42 Surely, he who bears patiently and forgives indeed that is true constancy. 43
