And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 And you cannot escape in the earth; and you have neither a friend nor any supporter against Allah. 31 And among His Signs are the ships, in the sea, like mountains. 32 Had He wanted, He could have stopped the wind and let the ships remain motionless on the surface of the sea, in this there is evidence (of the Truth) for all those who are patient and grateful, 33 or He may cause them to founder because of people's misdeeds, He pardons many of them, 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who shun the worst of sins and indecencies and, when they are wroth, forgive, 37 And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them. 38 and when harmed they become victorious. 39 The recompense of a sin is a sin like it, but whosoever forgives and seeks to reform, his wage will be with Allah. Surely, He does not love the harmdoers. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
