Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 We utterly destroyed them although they were greater in might than these. The examples of ancient peoples have gone before. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
