Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By this luminous Book. 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 Indeed it is transcribed in the Original Book with Us; sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Can We ignore sending you the Quran just because you are a transgressing people? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 But never did a prophet come at whom they did not scoff. 7 Then We destroyed men stronger (in power) than these, and the example of the ancients has passed away (before them). 8 And if thou (Muhammad) ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely answer: The Mighty, the Knower created them; 9 Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and placed roads for you therein, that haply ye may find your way; 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 indeed, to our Lord we are turning' 14 Yet they assign to some of His slaves a share with Him (by pretending that He has children, and considering them as equals or co-partners in worship with Him). Verily, man is indeed a manifest ingrate! 15
