Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 It is inscribed in the original Book (of Books) with Us, sublime, dispenser of (all) laws. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 6 No Prophet came to them whom they did not mock. 7 so We destroyed men stronger in valour than they, and the example of the ancients passed away. 8 And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing." 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return." 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15
