Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 We utterly destroyed them although they were greater in might than these. The examples of ancient peoples have gone before. 8 If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will answer: "The Mighty and All-knowing created them," 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 And Who hath treated the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you from ships and cattle things whereon ye ride. 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
