Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 We have made it an Arabic Koran in order that you understand. 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Should We have withdrawn the Reminder from you as you are a people who exceed the bounds? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 And Who sendeth down from the heaven water in measure; then We quicken a dead land therewith: even so ye shall be brought forth. 11 And, (it is He) who has created all the pairs and appointed for you ships and the cattle on which you ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
