And when Abraham said to his father and his people, 'Surely I am quit of that you serve, 26 “Except Him Who has created me, for He will soon direct me.” (To my place of migration.) 27 And he left it as a Word to endure among those who came after him, that they may turn back (to Allah). 28 In fact I gave them and their forefathers the usage of this world until the truth and the Noble Messenger who conveyed the message clearly, came to them. 29 And when the truth cometh unto them, they say this is magic, and verily we are therein disbelievers. 30 They say, 'Why was this Koran not sent down upon some man of moment in the two cities?' 31 But is it they who distribute thy Sustainer's grace? [Nay, as] it is We who distribute their means of livelihood among them in the life of this world, and raise some of them by degrees above others, to the end that they might avail themselves of one another's help - [so, too, it is We who bestow gifts of the spirit upon whomever We will]: and this thy Sustainer's grace is better than all [the worldly wealth] that they may amass. 32 If it were not that all mankind might have become one community [of disbelievers], We could have given all those who deny the Lord of Mercy, houses with roofs of silver, silver staircases to ascend, 33 And for their houses doors (of silver) and couches of silver whereon to recline, 34 And ornaments of gold. Yet all that would have been but a provision of the life of the world. And the Hereafter with your Lord would have been for those who keep from evil. 35
