And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 and they bar them from the way, and they think they are guided, 37 Until when he comes before Us he will say (to the devil): "Would to God there was a distance of the East and West between you and me, for you were an evil companion!" 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 Even if We take you away from the world, We shall surely take vengeance on them 41 or We show thee a part of that We promised them, surely We have power over them. 42 So hold fast to all that has been revealed to thee: for, behold, thou art on a straight way; 43 And verily it is an admonition unto thee and thy people; and presently ye will be questioned. 44 And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped? 45
