۞ No sooner the example of the son of Mary was mentioned than, lo and behold, your people raised a clamour 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 He is nothing but a slave on whom We bestowed favour, and We made him a pattern for the Children of Israel. 59 Had it been Our Will We would have made angels among you as successors in the earth. 60 And verily he is a sign of the Hour wherefore dubitate not thereof, and follow Me: this is the straight path. 61 And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. 62 And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me. 63 For God, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship Him: that is a straight path." 64 Yet the parties differed among themselves. So woe to those who did evil among the punishment of a Painful Day. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 Friends will turn into enemies on that day, except those who fear and follow the straight path. 67
