۞ When the son of Mary was mentioned as an example, you people cried out in protest, saying, 57 And they said, "Are your gods better, or is he?" They did not present the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute. 58 He is nothing but a slave on whom We bestowed favour, and We made him a pattern for the Children of Israel. 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 And most surely it is a knowledge of the hour, therefore have no doubt about it and follow me: this is the right path. 61 do not let Satan bar your way. He is truly your sworn enemy. 62 And when Isa came with evidences, he said: of a surety I have come unto you with wisdom, and to expound unto you some of that wherein ye differ; so fear Allah and obey me. 63 For God, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship Him: that is a straight path." 64 But factions from among those [who came after Jesus] began to hold divergent views: woe, then, unto those who are bent on evildoing - [woe] for the suffering [that will befall them] on a grievous Day! 65 Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not? 66 On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing. 67
