۞ And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud. 57 "Are our gods any better than Jesus (for according to Muhammad), if our gods go to hell so too will Jesus. What they say is only a false argument. In fact, they are a quarrelsome people. 58 He ['Iesa (Jesus)] was not more than a slave. We granted Our Favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father). 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 And lo! verily there is knowledge of the Hour. So doubt ye not concerning it, but follow Me. This is the right path. 61 And let not Satan bar you [from it] - for, verily, he is your open foe! 62 When Jesus came with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), he said: I have come unto you with wisdom, and to make plain some of that concerning which ye differ. So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 63 "Verily, God is my Sustainer as well as your Sustainer; so worship [none but] Him: this [alone] is a straight way!" 64 But parties from among them differed, so woe to those who were unjust because of the chastisement of a painful day. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not? 66 The intimate friends on that Day will be hostile unto one another save the God-fearing. 67
