۞ And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud. 57 and say: 'What, are our gods better, or is he?' They do not mention him to you except to dispute, truly, they are a contentious nation. 58 but he was only a servant We favoured and made an example for the Children of Israel: 59 if We had so wished, We could have appointed angels in exchange for you to succeed you on the earth. 60 And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. 61 And let not the Shaitan prevent you; surely he is your open enemy. 62 When Jesus came with Clear Signs and said: “I have brought wisdom to you that I may make plain to you some of the things you differ about. So fear Allah and follow me. 63 Verily Allah! He is my lord and your Lord, so worship Him: this is the straight path. 64 The various factions among them differed -- woe then to those who did wrong: they will suffer the punishment of a painful Day. 65 ARE THEY [who are lost in sin] but waiting for the Last Hour - [waiting] that it come upon them of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]? 66 On that Day, [erstwhile] friends will be foes unto one another - [all] save the God-conscious. 67
