۞ And when the son of Maryam (Mary) is quoted as an example [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus) is worshipped like their idols), behold! Your people cry aloud (laugh out at the example). 57 And they say, "Are our gods best, or he?" This they set forth to thee, only by way of disputation: yea, they are a contentious people. 58 He (Prophet Jesus) was only a worshiper whom We favored and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path. 61 And let not the Shaitan prevent you; surely he is your open enemy. 62 When Jesus came with Clear Signs and said: “I have brought wisdom to you that I may make plain to you some of the things you differ about. So fear Allah and follow me. 63 "Verily, Allah! He is my Lord (God) and your Lord (God). So worship Him (Alone). This is the (only) Straight Path (i.e. Allah's religion of true Islamic Monotheism)." 64 The various factions among them differed -- woe then to those who did wrong: they will suffer the punishment of a painful Day. 65 They await but the Hour: that it should come upon them of a sudden, while they perceive not. 66 On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing. 67
