Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 The perspicuous Book is witness 2 Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning - 3 On that night is made distinct every precise matter - 4 By a command from Us indeed it is We Who send. 5 A mercy from thy Lord. Lo! He, even He is the Hearer, the Knower, 6 He is the Lord of heaven and earth and all that is between them, if only you would really believe, 7 There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 Aye! they're in doubt sporting. 9 So watch for the Day when the sky will come down with a pall of smoke, 10 Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous. 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth), 13 yet they turned away from him and said: “This is a well-tutored madman.” 14 We are removing the punishment a little, but you revert. 15 On the day when We will seize (them) with the most violent seizing; surely We will inflict retribution. 16 ۞ And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger, 17 Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful apostle to you, 18 "And exalt not (yourselves) against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority. 19 I seek protection from my Lord and your Lord from your decision of stoning me. 20 But if you do not believe what I say, leave me alone (and desist from laying hands on me).” 21 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “These are a guilty nation!” 22 So depart thou with My bondmen by night; verily ye shall be pursued. 23 And leave the sea becalmed; they are a drowned host.' 24 They left - how many! of gardens and springs. 25 And cornfields and goodly positions. 26 and the life of ease in which they took delight! 27 We gave these as an inheritance to other people. 28 So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited. 29

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
