And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 Indeed these people say: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring then our fathers if ye say so. 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 Save those on whom Allah will have mercy. Verily He! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
