And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge, 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting, 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
