Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 And We exalted them over the other people knowingly, 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 Indeed these disbelievers proclaim; – 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
