Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 and indeed, We chose them knowingly above all other people, 32 And We gave them of the communications wherein was clear blessing. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 The appointed time for all of them will be the Day of Judgment 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
