Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 We did not idly create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them; 38 none of this have We created without [an inner] truth: but most of them understand it not. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
