We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 And We gave them signs in which lay clear favours. 33 Indeed these disbelievers proclaim; – 34 “There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
