So We saved the children of Israel from degrading suffering 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 And We exalted them over the other people knowingly, 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,- 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 Save those on whom Allah will have mercy. Verily He! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
