We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds. 32 And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial. 33 These men do say, 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
