We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge, above all beings, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Indeed these disbelievers proclaim; – 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
