Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 Most surely these do say: 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 We did not idly create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them; 38 none of this have We created without [an inner] truth: but most of them understand it not. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
