In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 The sending down of the Book is from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise. 2 Verily in the heavens and the earth are signs unto the believers. 3 And in your creation, and all the creatures He scatters in the earth – in them are signs for the people who are certain. 4 And in the succession of night and day, and in the means of subsistence which God sends down from the skies, giving life thereby to the earth after it had been lifeless, and in the change of the winds: [in all this] there are messages for people who use their reason. 5 These are the revelations of God which We recite to you for a genuine purpose. In what statements other than God's and His revelations will they then believe? 6 Woe unto each sinful liar, 7 who hears God's messages when they are conveyed to him, and yet, as though he had not heard them, persists in his haughty disdain! Hence, announce unto him grievous suffering 8 Whenever he comes to know anything of Our Signs, he makes them an object of jest. For such there awaits a humiliating chastisement. 9 Beyond them there is hell, and that which they have earned will naught avail them, nor those whom they have chosen for protecting friends beside Allah. Theirs will be an awful doom. 10 This is guidance. Those who deny the revelations of their Lord will suffer a dreadful doom. 11

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
