And those who disbelieve say of those who believe: had it been good, they would not have preceded us thereto. And when they have not let themselves be guided thereby, they say: this is an ancient falsehood. 11 Yet before it there was the Book of Moses which was an authority, and a mercy. This (Koran) is the Book confirming it (the other untampered Books) in theArabic tongue, to warn the harmdoers and to give glad tidings to those who do good. 12 Surely those who say, "Our Lord is God," and remain firm [on that path] shall feel no fear, nor shall they grieve: 13 Those, they shall be for ever the inhabitants of Paradise, a recompense for what they did. 14 We have enjoined on man to be good to his parents: His mother carries him in her womb with hardship, and gives birth to him in pain. Thirty months is the period of her carrying and weaning him. When he attains to manhood and the age of forty, he says: "O Lord, guide me to thank You for the favours You have bestowed on me and my parents, and to do things good as may please You, and give me a righteous off-spring. I turn to You in penitence and submit." 15 Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds, [their being] among the companions of Paradise. [That is] the promise of truth which they had been promised. 16 And he who saith unto his parents: fie upon you both! threaten me ye that I shall be taken forth, whereas generations have passed away before me? and the twain implore Allah's assistance; woe unto thee! come to believe! verily the promise of Allah is true; yet he saith: naught is this but fables of the ancients. 17 Such people will be subject to the punishment of God, which was also decreed for many human beings and jinn before them. These people are certainly lost. 18 And for all persons are ranks according to their deeds; and so that He may repay them in full for their deeds, and they will not be wronged. 19 Upon the Day when the unbelievers are brought before the Fire, (We shall say to them): 'You squandered your good things in your earthly life and took your fill of enjoyment in them, therefore today you shall be recompensed with a humiliating punishment, because you were unrightfully proud in the earth and for that you were debauchers' 20
