Muhammad (Muhammad)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Those who disbelieve and hinder others from the way of Allah, He shall send their works astray. 1 As for the believers who do good works and believe in what is sent down to Muhammad which is the truth from their Lord He will acquit them of their sins and repair their condition. 2 This is because the disbelievers have followed falsehood and the believers have followed the Truth from their Lord. Thus God explains to the human being their own prospects. 3 NOW WHEN you meet [in war] those who are bent on denying the truth, smite their necks until you overcome them fully, and then tighten their bonds; but thereafter [set them free,] either by an act of grace or against ransom, so that the burden of war may be lifted: thus [shall it be]. And [know that] had God so willed, He could indeed punish them [Himself]; but [He wills you to struggle] so as to test you [all] by means of one another. And as for those who are slain in God's cause, never will He let their deeds go to waste: 4 Anon He shall guide them, and shall make good their state. 5 He will admit them into the Paradise which He has made known to them. 6 Believers, if you help God, He will help you and make you steadfast (in your faith). 7 And those who disbelieve, perdition is for them, and He will make their actions vain. 8 That is because they detest that which Allah hath sent down, and so He shall make of non-effect their works. 9 ۞ Have they, then, never journeyed about the earth and beheld what happened in the end to those [willful sinners] who lived before their time? God destroyed them utterly: and the like thereof awaits all who deny the truth. 10 This, because God is the Protector of all who have attained to faith, whereas they who deny the truth have no protector. 11
