Muhammad (Muhammad)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
God will bring to naught all the good deeds of those who are bent on denying the truth and bar [others] from the path of God. 1 And those who believe and do good works and believe in that which is revealed unto Muhammad - and it is the truth from their Lord - He riddeth them of their ill-deeds and improveth their state. 2 This is because the unbelievers follow falsehood while the believers follow the truth from their Lord. As such Allah sets forth for people their examples. 3 When you meet those who deny the truth in battle, strike them in the neck, and once they are defeated, make [them] prisoners, and afterwards either set them free as an act of grace, or let them ransom [themselves] until the war is finally over. Thus you shall do; and if God had pleased, He would certainly have exacted retribution from them, but His purpose is to test some of you by means of others. As for those who are killed in God's cause, He will never let their deeds be in vain; 4 He will guide them [in the hereafter as well,] and will set their hearts at rest, 5 He will admit them into the Garden He has already made known to them. 6 O believers, if you help God, He will help you, and confirm your feet. 7 And for those who disbelieve – may they be ruined, and may Allah destroy all their deeds! 8 That is because they hated what Allah has sent down, so He annulled their deeds. 9 ۞ Have they not then journeyed in the land and seen how was the end of those before them: Allah brought down destruction upon them, and the unbelievers shall have the like of it. 10 that is because Allah is the Guardian of the believers, and the unbelievers have no guardian. 11
