Muhammad (Muhammad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
God will bring to naught all the good deeds of those who are bent on denying the truth and bar [others] from the path of God. 1 As for those who attained to faith and did righteous works and believed in what was revealed to Muhammad -- which indeed is the Truth from their Lord -- Allah has remitted their evil deeds and has set their condition right. 2 That is because the ones who deny the truth follow falsehood, while those who believe follow the Truth from their Lord. Thus God sets forth comparisons for mankind. 3 When you meet the unbelievers (in battle), smite their necks until you have crushed them, then bind your captives firmly; thereafter (you are entitled to) set them free, either by an act of grace, or against ransom, until the war ends. That is for you to do. If Allah had so willed, He would have Himself exacted retribution from them. (But He did not do so) that He may test some of you by means of others. As for those who are slain in the way of Allah, He shall never let their works go to waste. 4 He will guide them and repair their condition; 5 And He shall make them enter the Garden; He shall have made it known unto them. 6 O ye who believe! If ye help Allah, He will help you and will make your foothold firm. 7 And those who disbelieve, perdition is for them, and He will make their actions vain. 8 That is because they disliked what Allah revealed, so He rendered worthless their deeds. 9 ۞ So did they not travel in the land to see what sort of fate befell those who preceded them? Allah poured ruin upon them; and for the disbelievers are several like it. 10 God is the guardian of the believers, but the disbelievers have no guardian. 11
