In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Qaf. By the glorious Quran! 1 But nay - they deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst; and so these deniers of the truth are saying, "A strange thing is this! 2 that after we die and become dust, we shall be brought back to life again. This seems far from reality". 3 We already know how much of them the earth takes away: With Us is a record guarding (the full account). 4 But they deny the Truth when it comes to them: so they are in a confused state. 5 Have they not seen how We have established the sky above them and decked it without gaps and cracks? 6 We spread out the earth and set upon it firm mountains, and We cause every delightful thing to grow in it 7 To be observed and commemorated by every devotee turning (to Allah). 8 And We send down water as a blessing from the sky, and grow gardens with it and the grain for harvest, 9 and tall palm-trees with their thickly-clustered spathes; 10 as a provision for human beings; and by [all] this We bring dead land to life. Such shall be the Resurrection. 11 The people of Noah denied before them, and the companions of the well and Thamud 12 And the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun, and the fellowmen of Lut. 13 And the dwellers of the grove and the people of Tuba; all rejected the apostles, so My threat came to pass. 14 Were We then weary with the first Creation, that they should be in confused doubt about a new Creation? 15

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
