Surely We have created man, and We know the promptings of his heart, and We are nearer to him than even his jugular vein. 16 Since the two scribes are sitting on each of his shoulders, he does not utter a word which is not recorded immediately by the watchful scribes. 17 He utters not a word, but there is a vigilant watcher at hand. 18 The palsy of death will surely come. This is what you wished to avert. 19 and [in the end] the trumpet [of resurrection] will be blown: that will be the Day of a warning fulfilled. 20 And every human being will come forward with [his erstwhile] inner urges and [his] conscious mind, 21 [and will be told:] "Indeed, unmindful hast thou been of this [Day of Judgment]; but now We have lifted from thee thy veil, and sharp is thy sight today!" 22 And his companion (angel) will say: "Here is (this Record) ready with me!" 23 (They will be told,) "Throw into hell every persistent disbelievers, 24 hinderer of good, transgressor, causing others to doubt, 25 Who sets up another god with Allah, so do cast him into severe chastisement. 26 ۞ And his comrade shall say, 'Our Lord, I made him not insolent, but he was in far error.' 27 He will say: "Dispute not with each other in My Presence: I had already in advance sent you Warning. 28 The Word will not be changed in My presence, nor am I an oppressor at all unto My bondmen. 29
