Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
