Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 It will be on the day when they will be roasted in the fire. 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith, 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
