Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They slept very little during the night 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
