Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those [winds] scattering [dust] dispersing 1 and the burden-bearers 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 Then those (angels who) distribute blessings by Our command; 4 What you are promised is certainly true: 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 You are indeed in different opinions regarding this Qur’an. 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking. 23
