Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the scatterers (the wind) scattering, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
